All about Cannabis in Nova Scotia
In the summer of 2018, customers will be able to purchase recreational cannabis from the NSLC. This is a new mandate for us and we are working hard to finalize the plans to sell this product in select stores and online.
We appreciate your patience as we develop our operational plan. We’re in the early stages but we are committed to sharing as much information as possible. Please check back regularly for updates.
Here’s What We Know Now
WHO can buy recreational cannabis?
Any person over the age of 19 will be able to purchase the product once it is legalized.
WHAT cannabis products will be sold?
We will initially sell dried and fresh cannabis, cannabis oil and cannabis accessories. Edibles will not be sold until the federal government chooses to make them legal
We are working to determine the details of the product assortment – the products and the package sizes. It is likely to include pre-packaged dried cannabis flowers (buds) as well as pre-rolled cannabis, cannabis oil, and a selection of related accessories required for consumption. These products are for recreational use only. Customers requiring cannabis for strictly medical reasons will continue to have access to the federally regulated market for medical cannabis direct from Licensed Producers. Please consult your health care provider for health-related questions and information about medicinal cannabis.
WHERE will I be able to buy recreational cannabis?
Recreational cannabis will be sold in nine stores that are in population hubs in the province. They are the Amherst Mall, Portland Street in Dartmouth, Joseph Howe Drive and Clyde Street in Halifax, Downsview Plaza in Lower Sackville, Sydney River, Prince Street in Truro, Yarmouth and East Side New Glasgow. All except the Clyde Street store will have retail cannabis sold at a store within our store. Clyde Street will be a stand-alone store.
All Nova Scotians of legal age will also be able to purchase cannabis from us online. Additional details about online sales will be announced at a future date.
WHEN will I be able to buy cannabis at the NSLC?
The federal government has targeted July 2018 to legalize recreational cannabis. Once it is legal, the NSLC will begin selling cannabis in some stores and online. We’ll announce details of online sales and the location of retail stores once those decisions have been finalized.
WHY was the NSLC chosen?
We have a proven track record of success retailing a controlled product in a responsible way and providing a level of customer service that our customers enjoy. We plan to apply the same retail principals and industry best practice to cannabis and do so in a responsible manner and according to federal and provincial guidelines.
How will cannabis be sold?
